
Tulane Hosts Florida Atlantic for American Home Opener Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball returns to Uptown for its American Conference home opener against Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon. The Green Wave will aim to win its fourth straight game and its fifth consecutive home opener in league play when it squares off with the Owls.

The game between the Wave and the Owls is set to tipoff at 12 a.m. on ESPN2. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.7 The Ticket with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

The Green Wave is 5-6 including four-straight victories in home conference openers since joining The American ahead of the 2014-15 season. Tulane has not dropped its first home conference game since falling 74-80 to Memphis on December 16, 2020.

This marks the 10th all-time meeting between Tulane and Florida Atlantic with the Green Wave leading the series 7-2. The Wave won both matchups last season against the Owls including an 83-76 victory in the quarterfinals of the American Conference Championship. The Green Wave holds a 4-1 advantage over Florida Atlantic in Uptown including Tulane's 80-65 victory over the Owls last season on January 15, 2025.

In its last time out, Tulane opened conference play with a victory for the third year in a row after defeating East Carolina 79-70 in Greenville, North Carolina, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Green Wave on the road against the Pirates marking the Wave's first road victory in the series since 2018. Four players finished with double figures in scoring for Tulane led by Rowan Brumbaugh and Asher Woods with 19 points each followed by 16 points apiece from Scotty Middleton and Tyler Ringgold.

Florida Atlantic enters the matchup in Uptown with a 9-5 record overall and a 1-0 mark in conference play after defeating UTSA 110-70 in their conference opener at home on December 31. The Owls are paced by the trio of Devin Vanterpool, Kanaan Carlyle, and Isaiah Elohim to rank third in the league averaging 84.9 points per game.

Defensively this season the Owls have thrived protecting the rim leading The American and ranking 11th nationally with 5.9 blocked shots per game. Forward Devin Williams anchors the rim protection for Florida Atlantic as he averages 2.86 blocks per game which rates sixth in the country.

Following the game against the Owls, Tulane will visit UTSA in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, January 10. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Roadrunners is slated to begin at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
