
Tulane Travels Northeast for Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing heads back out on the road this weekend for a pair of road regattas in the northeast on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4. The Green Wave will send one crew to Harpswell, Maine, for the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One while another group for the Wave will travel to New London, Connecticut, to compete in the Danmark Trophy.

The Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One is set to be hosted by Bowdoin College at the Leighton Sailing Center on the waters of Harpswell Sound. The Wave will be one of 18 teams competing in the regatta which also features sailors from Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, Columbia, Connecticut College, Cornell, George Washington, Harvard, Northeastern, Roger Williams, Rollins, Salve Regina, Navy, Berkeley, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, and South Florida.

Racing for the Green Wave at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One will be starting skippers Sammie Gardner and Ava Anderson with crews Taylor Bartell and Caitlin Briggs. Tulane will also have Oakley Cunningham, Martha Hughes, Skye Terrell, and Paige Tillson available for the event.

The format for the two-day regatta will consist of two divisions each competing in a single round robin of 14 scheduled races. Competition is slated to begin at approximately 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT Sunday.

Over in Connecticut at the Danmark Trophy this weekend Tulane will be one of 20 teams on the water competing in the regatta hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy at Jacobs Rock Sailing Center. The other teams racing in the two-day regatta will be Boston College, Brown, College of Charleston, Connecticut College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Hobart & William, MIT, Roger Williams, St. Mary's, Stanford, Tufts, Coast Guard, Navy, Miami, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Yale.

Starting for the Wave at the Danmark Trophy will be skippers Tate Christopher and Christian Ebbin alongside crews Charlotte Casey and Sabrina Anderson. Also available to race for Tulane in the regatta will be Gil Hackel, Parker Kumler, Sloane Mullin, and Jonah Wozniak.

The Danmark Trophy will be held on the waters of the Thames River with the event slated to be sailed in two divisions with 14 races scheduled. Racing is set to start at approximately 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT Sunday.
