
Wave Extends Win Streak to Eight with Victory Over Shockers

NEW ORLEANS – A career performance from outside hitter Chloe List helped Tulane volleyball (12-2, 4-0) extended its winning streak to eight matches in a row with a 3-2 victory at home over Wichita State (4-12, 1-3) on Sunday. List led all players in the contest with a career-high 19 kills and a career-best 21.5 points against the Shockers.
With the win, the Tulane starts American Conference play 4-0 marking its best start in league action since opening competition in Conference USA 5-0 in 2007. The eight-match win streak for the Green Wave is the longest for the program since winning 11 in a row in 2018.
While the stellar play of List led the way for the Wave against Wichita State, five other players all recorded at least six kills in the match as well. Lauryn Mack joined List as the only players for Tulane in double figures as she posted a double-double with 16 kills and a career-high 17 digs. Following the duo of List and Mack for the Green Wave were Maddy McLin with nine kills, Avery Burks with eight, and Riley Tucker with six.
Charlee Solomon stuffed the stat sheet for Tulane once again in the victory over the Shockers. The sophomore setter tallied 51 assists to mark her second-straight match with at least 50 assists and her third of the season. Solomon also registered eight digs, six kills, and one block.
Defensively, four players posted double digit digs for the Green Wave led by the career-best 17 from Mack and 17 by Makena Lim. Burks added a season-high 15 digs while Dayla Ortiz added 10 for her fifth game of the season with double figures. Tulane controlled the action at the net defensively recording nine total blocks to just one by the Shockers. List and Tucker each recorded four total blocks followed by three by McLin and two from Mack.
In its first home conference match of the season Tulane came out with high energy to begin the first set. The Wave built a quick 5-1 advantage over Wichita State and never looked back in the opening frame.
The Green Wave extended its lead to as many as seven points on multiple occasions throughout the first set including a 23-17 advantage down the stretch. Consecutive kills from Mack and McLin clinched the first 25-18 for Tulane to take the early 1-0 lead in the match.
Tulane and Wichita State traded the lead three times as the two teams went back-and-forth to begin the second set. The Shockers eventually broke a 10-10 tie with a 9-5 run that put the Wave behind 15-19.
The Green Wave did not back down from the challenge in set two battling with a 4-1 scoring run to pull within one at 19-20. However, Tulane was never able to reclaim the lead over Wichita State in the final moments of the set as the Wave lost set two 22-25 evening the match at 1-1.
Set three between the Wave and the Shockers was another tightly contested fight as the teams traded the advantage seven times. Tulane held the largest lead of the set building an 11-5 advantage, but Wichita State responded with 7-1 run that put the Green Wave behind 12-13.
The final lead change of the third set came on a kill by List that put Tulane in front 21-20. The Green Wave and the Shockers traded points on the next two rallies, but the Wave closed strong with the final four points capped off by a service ace from Lim to win the set 25-21 and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Tulane pulled in front early in the fourth set establishing a 7-3 before Wichita State mounted a response. The Shockers eventually claimed an 11-10 lead over the Wave, but the Green Wave answered with a 5-1 run to hold a 15-12 advantage at the media timeout.
Following the break Wichita State battled back to briefly even the score at 17-17. The tie did not last very long as the Wave scored the next three points to reclaim the lead before ultimately holding on to win the set 25-23 and secure the match 3-1.

Tulane will remain home to host Charlotte and UAB inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse to continue league play. The Green Wave will host the Charlotte 49ers on Friday, October 9, before welcoming the UAB Blazers to Uptown on Sunday, October 11.
