Wave Wins Two Doubles Points on Friday, Drops Match to #11 Arizona State

TEMPE, AZ – Tulane's Asaf Friedler and AJ Mercer secured the doubles points against #11 Arizona State and #64 Washington Friday, the latter giving the Green Wave with the momentum heading into Saturday's restart at the Diablos Collegiate Invitational at Kiwanis Tennis Club.
The doubles wins gave Tulane the early lead against the Sun Devils but ASU took four of the six singles matches to register a 4-1 win Friday evening at Kiwanis Tennis Center.
Arizona State improved to 11-3 on the season, while Tulane's record was evened at 3-3.
The Green Wave's 43rd-ranked doubles team of Daniel Phillips and Lance Nisbet were also victorious by a 6-4 margin.
Tulane's Hady ElKordy (No. 2) and Alec Gaudin (No. 4) each won a set in matches that were unfinished.
The Green Wave took the Nos. 2 (6-2) and 3 (6-3) doubles matches in the evening session against the Huskies. Singles play in that match is set for 11 a.m. CT (10 a.m. MST) on Saturday.
Tulane will then play its final match later tomorrow at a time to be determined.
