Green Wave Opens Competition in Chicago
Feb 6, 2026 | Track & Field
CHICAGO – The Tulane track and field squad completed a successful first day of the Badger Windy City Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin at Gately Stadium. The Green Wave was highlighted by Presley Wolfe placing second in the pole vault as one of four total athletes to place in the top 10 of their respective events.
Presley Wolfe delivered a personal-best 4.05m in the pole vault to finish second. She finished just behind Cassidy Allen of Akron, who narrowly edged out first place. Wolfe's mark is also good enough to check in as the sixth best in program history.
In the mile invite, Elena Liano-Rengel placed sixth overall with a new personal best of 4:47.98. This time is good enough to crack her into the program's top 10, as she enters the record book in 10th.
Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas notched a personal best in the women's 400 meters with her time of 56.93. She finished seventh with Marissa Gordon (58.23) placing 17th. Cara Salsberry was the fourth Wave competitor to earn a top-10 finish in an event, checking in at 10th in the weight throw invite with her tally of 17.09m.
Every Tulane athlete placed in the top 20 of their respective events. Lee Harris was 20th with a 6.92 in the men's 60 meters prelims. In the women's 60 meters prelims, Zaria Parker ran a 7.61 to place 19th. In the men's 400 meters, Alexander Montoro ran a 51.12 to place 17th. Andrew Bamberg finished 18th right behind him with a 51.36.
Action continues tomorrow with the second and final day of the meet. Tulane is set to feature competitors in the men's 200 meters, women's 200 meters, women's 800 meters, women's shot put, women's triple jump, women's weight throw, and the women's 4x400 relay.
