Tulane Splits for Dual-Meet Weekend
Apr 15, 2026 | Track & Field
HOUSTON and AZUSA, Calif. – The Tulane track and field program is set for its biggest weekend of action yet this outdoor campaign, as the team will split for a pair of meets this weekend in Texas and California. Part of the team is heading west to Azusa, California, for the three-day Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific. The remainder of the squad will compete in the Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational, hosted by Houston.
The Bryan Clay Invitational begins tomorrow and runs through Saturday, April 18, at Cougar Stadium. Thursday's slate starts with a morning distance session at 9:00 a.m. CT. The evening session begins at 7:10 p.m. CT with more track events. Friday begins with another morning distance session at 9:00 a.m. CT. Field events start up at 1:00 p.m. CT with the afternoon running session starting one hour later. This will lead right into the evening distance session. The final day of action on Saturday will yet again feature a morning distance session, this time beginning at 10:20 a.m. CT. The remainder of the running events will follow. Field events open up at 11:00 a.m. CT. Live results for the meet can be found here. The meet will be streamed on FloTrack.
The Tom Tellez Alumni Invitational is a two-day event taking place on Friday and Saturday at Carl Lewis International Complex. Competition begins on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with field events. Running events round out the day with the first race starting at 5:00 p.m. Saturday's slate kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with field events, and the running events round out the meet beginning at 1:30 p.m. Live results can be found here. Houston is streaming both days of the event on YouTube. Day one can be seen here, with day two available here.
Tulane last competed in the 44 Farms Team Invitational this past weekend in College Station, Texas. Highlighting the action was Cara Salsberry's program record of 59.22m in the hammer throw. Maria Alduan claimed an individual win for the Wave as she bested the field in the 800m with a time of 2:15.21.
A few Wave athletes currently hold top marks nationally. Leading the way is Silas Kiptanui, who ranks second in the country in the 3,000m steeplechase with his time of 8:29.21 in the Raleigh Relays. On the women's side, Blezzin Kimutai is 39th in the NCAA for the 5,000m with her time of 15:54.81, also from the Raleigh Relays. Alex Sharp just barley cracks the national top 50 for the 3,000m steeplechase, as her mark of 10:29.91 from the Raleigh Relays is 50th. Sofie Groeninger's heptathlon total of 5,264 from last weekend's 44 Farms Team Invitational is good for 43rd in the country.
The outdoor regular season is beginning to wind down as there are just two more competition weekends remaining before the American Conference Outdoor Championships. Next on the slate for the Wave is the LSU Alumni Gold, a one-day event next Saturday, April 25.
