No. 17 Tulane Goes 2-3 on First Day of Flyer Classic

LOCKPORT, Ill. – The No. 17 Tulane bowling team went 2-3 today in five Baker matches to stand in 14th through day one of the Flyer Classic at Strike & Spare II. The Green Wave totaled 4,637 pins and notched a ranked victory.

Over five sets of five Baker matches, Tulane's tally of 4,637 equated to a pin average of 185.5. Four of Tulane's five opponents today were top-25 foes with the Wave besting No. 18 Valparaiso.

The Wave opened the day with a win against Belmont Abbey, 958-935. Tulane used games of 158-176, 216-159, 179-256, 181-179, 224-165 to claim the triumph.

The slate immediately became more intense as each of the four remaining opponents were ranked teams. First up was No. 2 Vanderbilt, who only beat Tulane by 10 pins, 951-941. The game scores were 154-170, 152-194, 169-190, 257-204, 209-193.

Needing a bounce back, Tulane did just that against No. 18 Valparaiso with a 928-864 victory. The Wave posted game scores of 182-175, 211-216, 155-167, 179-183, 201-122 en route to the win.

Next up was a match-up with No. 3 Arkansas State, which the Red Wolves won 1,020-864. The game scores were 162-167, 200-203, 192-222, 162-204, 148-224.

The day concluded against No. 16 Newman with a 1,131-946 loss. Game scores were 184-212, 202-170, 194-280, 245-205, 121-264.
