Apr 8, 2026 | Women's Bowling
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University head bowling coach Hayley Veitch has announced the signing of Vicky Lizarazo to the Green Wave for the 2026-27 campaign. A native of Bogota, Colombia, Lizarazo will come to Uptown for her freshman season after graduating from Colegio Gimnasio Yacard.
Â
Lizarazo is a decorated bowler in her home nation of Colombia and has appeared in junior national competitions and second division national competitions. She has represented her nation internationally as a member of Colombia's U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18, and U-21 teams. At the 2025 Second Division Nationals, she earned a silver medal in singles while adding a silver in teams and gold in teams all event. At the 2025 U-21 National, Lizarazo was a gold medalist in mixed doubles while also claiming silver in women's doubles. Bringing home more hardware, she won silver medals in mixed doubles and singles at the 2025 Junior Nationals while also claiming silver in women's doubles and bronze in all event.
Â
Perhaps her biggest stage was at the 13th International Friendship Youth Bowling Championship in 2025. At just 16 years old, she won a gold medal in the singles event in Qatar, which was her first international medal in her first international tournament. She added bronze medals for the masters portion and for all events. She competed in the South American Youth-Senior-Super Senior Championship that same year in Lima, Peru. Lizarazo tied for the lead in singles despite taking home the silver medal, and she claimed gold in women's doubles. Colombia secured silver in the team portion, aided by Lizarazo and her younger sister Gabriella, who is currently a member of Colombia's U-16 and U-18 national teams.
Â
Lizarazo's favorite athlete is Colombian bowler Rocio Restrepo. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, reading, and listening to music. Lizarazo intends to major in chemical engineering at Tulane, and she aims to become a food engineer and create healthier versions of food that is typically considered unhealthy.
Â
Tulane's class of incoming student-athletes for next season is now two deep, as Lizarazo will join Malia Briggs, who signed with the Wave in November. The duo of incoming freshmen will join a Tulane squad currently ranked 17th nationally. Tulane is set to compete in the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship next week, April 16-18, to wrap up the 2025-26 season.
