NEW ORLEANS – The Rice men's tennis team, ranked No. 60 nationally, secured the doubles point and defeated Tulane 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Center.
The Owls improved to 9-6 on the season, while Tulane fell to 6-7.
Piotr Andrzejewski (6-3, 2-6, 6-1) earned Tulane's first point of the match with a singles win at the No. 4 position. Soon after, Daniel Phillips (3-6, 6-1, 6-3) defeated No. 49 Petro Kuzmenok at No. 1 singles.
Tulane returns to action next weekend, traveling to #59 Memphis on Friday, March 27, before heading to #43 Middle Tennessee on Sunday, March 29 at 12 p.m.
