Green Wave Finishes Sixth at Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational

HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – Sophomore Francesca Pompa highlighted the week for Tulane women's golf at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational as she claimed third place in the tournament. As a team the Green Wave placed sixth in the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 910 (+46).

Pompa closed the three-day tournament strong for the Wave shooting under par in her last two rounds. She ended competition in sole possession of third place with a three-round score of 216 (E – 75, 70, 71). Pompa led the field with 13 total birdies over the course of the tournament while also posting the best overall score on par five holes shooting seven under par.

Climbing five spots in the standings in the third and final round was Cristina Albertazzi who finished the event tied for 29th overall. She ended with a 54-hole score of 230 (+14 – 78, 78, 74) while leading Tulane in total pars with 36.

Next on the leaderboard for the Wave was Gabriella Gilrowski who ended in a tie for 31st in the field with a total score of 231 (+15 – 74, 79, 78). Gilrowski led the team on par threes averaging 2.92 strokes on those holes while also collecting six total birdies.

Rounding out the group for the Green Wave were Sophia Chen and Tonka Zacharovska. Chen finished 40th overall with a tournament total of 235 (+19 – 81, 77, 77). Meanwhile, Zacharovska landed 44th in the field with a final score of 253 (+37 – 79, 86, 88).

Tulane will participate in the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. The two-day tournament will be hosted by TCU on Monday and Tuesday, March 23-24.
