Apr 1, 2026 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing will be back on the waters of Lake Pontchartrain this week to host a trio of regattas running from Thursday to Saturday, April 2-4. The Green Wave will begin the busy weekend on the water with the SEISA Team Race Conference Championships on Thursday and Friday, April 2-3, followed by the Tulane Women's Team Race and the second Triad Scrimmage on Saturday and Sunday, April 3-4.
Â
The conference championship competition for the Wave starts with the SEISA Women's Team Race Conference Championship on Thursday. The championship regatta will feature the Green Wave racing against the Texas A&M Aggies for the title. Competition is scheduled to begin at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday with a format of seven rounds of races slated. A minimum of six total races will be sailed to complete the regatta. If teams do not complete six races on Thursday, racing will pick up at approximately 9 a.m. on Friday.
Â
Also beginning on Friday will be the SEISA Open Team Race Championship which will feature Tulane alongside Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas A&M – Galveston. The preferred format for the championship will be three round robins with racing slated to start at approximately 10 a.m. on Friday.
Â
Tulane has won both the women's and open team race conference championships each of the last four seasons. Last year the Wave swept the championship regattas on Lake Pontchartrain on April 4-5, 2025.
Â
Tulane Women's Team Race will feature the Wave against non-conference competition on Lake Pontchartrain. The regatta is slated to begin on Friday afternoon and wrap up on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Green Wave will also host Stanford for the second Triad Scrimmage between the two teams on Friday and Saturday. Tulane faced off against the Cardinal in the first scrimmage last weekend on March 28-29 in Redwood City, California.
