
Green Wave Back on the Road for Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing returns to the road to compete in a pair of weekend regattas on Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12. The Green Wave will send a crew to take part in the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race in New London, Connecticut, while another squad for the Wave will compete in the Truxtun Umsted Open Fleet Race in Annapolis, Maryland.

At the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy the Green Wave will be one of 16 teams competing on the waters of the Thames River. Tulane will set sail in the regatta against teams from Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, Coast Guard, College of Charleston, Connecticut College, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, Navy, Rhode Island, Roger Williams, Stanford, Tufts, and Yale.

Racing in the two-day regatta in New London, Connecticut, is slated to start at approximately 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday. The format for the event is scheduled to feature a round robin of all 16 teams followed by round robins of the top four teams, the middle eight teams, and the bottom four teams.

Meanwhile, the Truxtun Umsted Open Fleet Race will be hosted by Navy on the waters of the Severn River. The Wave will compete in the regatta against 17 other teams including Boston, Coast Guard, Cornell, Eckerd, Fordham, George Washington, Georgetown, Hobart & William, Jacksonville, Miami, Navy, Northeastern, Old Dominion, Penn, San Diego State, St. Mary's, and Webb Institute.

Competition in the regatta hosted in Annapolis, Maryland, is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday. The format is set to feature 14 total races.
