
Tulane Wraps Road Regattas for the Spring

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing closed out its road competition for the spring regular season competing in the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race and the Truxtun Umsted Open Fleet Race. The Green Wave placed sixth among 16 teams for the Thompson Trophy and landed 11th out of 18 team at the Truxtun Umsted regatta.

In New London, Connecticut, at the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race the Wave finished with a 9-6 record to place sixth behind the racing of skippers Kelly Holthus, Christian Ebbin, Hamilton Barclay, and Tate Christopher with crews Parker Kumler, Jonah Wozniak, Sabrina Anderson, Skye Terrell, and Taylor Bartell. The sailors for Tulane earned victories over MIT, Coast Guard, Connecticut College, Navy, Rhode Island, Tufts, Boston College, Dartmouth, and Yale over the course of the two-day regatta.

Meanwhile, at the Truxtun Umsted Open Fleet Race in Annapolis, Maryland, the Green Wave closed the two-day competition with 250 total points to finish 11th overall. Tulane was paced in the fleet race regatta by skipper Ava Anderson with crews Cate Anderson and Ella May Corckran in the A Division. The trio placed fourth in their division with a total of 99 points, including three race victories, through 14 rotations.

Over in the B Division, skipper Gabriela Vassel raced with crews Caitlin Briggs and Charlotte Casey while skipper Oakley Cunningham teamed with crew Hope Breslin. Tulane finished 15th in the B Division with 151 total points in 14 races.

Up next, the Wave will host the SESIA Fleet Race Conference Championships on Lake Pontchartrain on Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19.
