Wave Finishes Second in Sugar Bowl Fleet Races

NEW ORLEANS – In its first home regatta of the 2026-27 season Tulane University sailing landed in second place in the Sugar Bowl Women's Fleet Races. The Green Wave finished with a final score of 135 in eight races across three divisions to end behind the regatta winner Stanford.

The trio of skipper Oakley Cunningham with crews Paige Tillson and Winnie Young paced the Wave on the water from the A Division. The group finished second in the division and fourth overall with a final score of 41. In their eight races the trio finished in the top four three times including a second-place effort their best performance of the regatta.

Over in the B Division the duo of skipper Sophia Dias with crew Caroline Caudron landed third in the division and fifth in the field with a score of 45. Dias and Caudron combined to finish in the top four three times as well including a second-place result in their first race of the weekend.

Rounding out the weekend for Tulane was the pairing of skipper Lola Kohl with crew Skye Terrell in the C Division. Kohl and Terrell finished second in the division and eighth overall with a final score of 49 in the eight-race regatta.

Up next, the Green Wave will travel to the northeast for a pair of road regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4. Tulane will send sailors to compete in the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round One in Harpswell, Maine, and the Danmark Trophy in New London, Connecticut.
