2001 Outdoor: Posted a season-best time of 4:32.80 in the 1,500 at LSU (4/14). Also recorded a time of 10:23.08 in the 3,000 in the Tulane Invitational (4/7) and a 18:00.59 in the 5,000 at USM (4/21). Was injured at the C-USA Championships.
2001 Indoor: Did not compete due to injury.
2000 Cross Country: The top finisher in the C-USA Championship with a time of 21:06.93 in the 6,000-meter race. Finished second in the other five meets she competed in. Did not compete in district championships due to injury.
2000 Indoor: Tulane[apos]s top runner in the mile, had an NCAA Provisional time of 4:45.94. Also the top 3,000-meter runner for the Wave with a top time of 9:54.40.
1999 Cross Country: Ran fourth at the 1999 Conference USA Championships with a career best time of 17:27.8 over the 5,000-meter course. Finished ninth at the NCAA South Central District Regional, qualifying her for the NCAA Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Set school records at three miles (16:47.62) and 5,000 meters (16:43.2). Became the first woman in school history to break the 17-minute barrier for three miles.
Prep: A 1996 graduate of Ngehyilel Secondary School, where she lettered in netball, soccer and volleyball, as well as track. Was the provincial champion in the 1500 and the 3000 meters.
Personal: Full name is Theresa Jebichi Maru. The daughter of Moses Kiptalaam Maru and Jepkurgat Maru. Has six sisters and one brother. A double major in accounting and information systems.
