Prior To Tulane: Swam two seasons at the University of Arkansas for coach Jeff Poppell...as a sophomore during the 2008-09 season, helped the Razorbacks finish fifth in the SEC...posted top times of 24.60 in the 50 free, 53.83 in the 100 free, 5:05.50 in the 500 free, 2:08.65 in the 200 IM, 56.77 in the 100 fly and 2:05.60 in the 200 fly...as a freshman during the 2007-08 season, she tallied top times of 25.14 in the 50 free, 55.25 in the 100 free, 5:06.97 in the 500 free, 57.49 in the 100 fly and 2:05.77 in the 200 fly...away from the pool, was a member of the 2009 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and the 2008 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Four-year letterwinner at Countryside High for coach Susan Curnutte...named All-American in the 200- and 400-free relay and was honored as the most dedicated swimmer at Countryside three years in a row...earned state champion in the 200-free relay and broke school records in the 200- and 400-free relays and the 200-medley relay...also lettered four years in track and field where she helped the team win the PCAP Championship as a junior and was a state-qualifier as a middle distance runner...away from the pool, was a member of the National Honor Society and served as the captain of the Marine Biology Club.
Club: Swam two years for the West Florida Lightning and coach Cashel Mack... was a Junior National qualifier nd participated in the High School U.S. Open both years...was a finalist at the 2007 Southern Zone Sectional and finished 12th in the U.S. Open Water Nationals in 2008.
Personal: Born Kylie Ann Kastes on May 12, 1989 in Palm Harbor, Fla...daughter of Paul and Sally Kastes...has a twin sister, Katie, who was a teammate at Arkansas and now swims at Cal-Berkeley...majoring in English.
