Kosuke Kojima begins his fourth season as the team's assistant coach. Â
In his three seasons at Tulane, Kojima has played a key role in elevating the program. The Green Wave have made 28 trips to the medal stand at the American Athletic Conference Championship, while 19 individuals have earned all-league honors.Â
In an unprecedented 2020-21 season, senior Kate McDonald led the way for the Olive and Blue with two gold medals at the conference championship in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.57) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.50). Danielle Titus, Noa Heron, Christiana Williams, Gianna Spremullo, Mya Drost-Parra and Courtney Barker also made trips to the medal stand in the spring.
During the 2019-20 campaign, he directed Olivia Johnson and freshman Lilly Byrne to the NCAA Championships. Byrne also took home 2020 AAC Freshman of the Year honors.Â

Kojima came to Tulane after he spent a year as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Michigan men's and women's swimming and diving program.  Prior to arriving at Michigan, Kojima spent eight years as the head coach and 3.5 years as an assistant coach of the Counsilman Center Swim Team in Bloomington, Indiana.

Kojima received his Ph.D. in Human Performance from Indiana University, and has contributed to several research publications. He also teaches undergraduate classes at Tulane University.

Kojima is an alum of Chuo University in Tokyo, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws in faculty of law.  He swam four years for Chuo University, reaching as high as 29th in the FINA world rankings in the 200-meter IM in 1998. Kojima also served as a volunteer assistant coach for three years.Â
Kojima and his wife, Takako, have one son, Sosuke.
