Alex Fruetel begins her sixth season as assistant athletic trainer at Tulane where she works primarily with the track and field and cross country programs while assisting with other Green Wave Olympics sports programs. In her current capacity, Fruetel is responsible for providing medical coverage for her assigned sports, including injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
She joined the Tulane family for the 2015-16 school year after previously working as a student assistant trainer at Iowa State the prior three seasons. During her time with the Cyclones, Fruetel worked closely with the Iowa State womenโs swimming and diving, womenโs gymnastics and football teams while also serving as an assistant at Ames High School. As an undergrad, she was a member of the Fellowship of Athletic Training Student Club.
A native of South St. Paul, Minnesota, Fruetel completed her bachelorโs degree in kinesiology from Iowa State in May 2015. She pursued her masterโs degree in liberal arts and graduated in May 2017.
