Alex Sharp
- Title:
- Graduate Assistant - Cross Country/Track & Field
Alex Sharp transitioned to the Green Wave coaching staff as a graduate assist for cross country and track and field during the summer of 2026. She enters her first season on staff after graduating from Tulane as a student-athlete of both programs.
Â
As an athlete, Sharp helped the Green Wave to three American Conference championships, winning two in cross country and one in indoor track and field. The indoor title was the first in program history.
Â
As a cross country runner, Sharp ran in 18 total meets across her four-year career. She saved her best for last, posting career marks in three different events during the fall 2025 campaign. Finishing fourth in the Battle for New Orleans, Sharp posted a 4K time of 13:41.2. She followed with her best-ever 6K time in the Gans Creek Classic, running a 20:54.5. In the Alabama Crimson Classic, Sharp delivered a career mark of 20:50.3 in the 5.868K. She competed twice each in the American Conference Championships and the NCAA South Central Regionals. Her best finish in each event came as a senior, where she was 16th in the conference meet and 43rd in the regional race.
Â
Sharp parlayed her cross country experience into distance success in both indoor and outdoor track and field. As a freshman, she notched a 4:52.93 in the 1,500m at the Strawberry Relays, placing third with the time standing as her personal record. Sharp has finished in the top five of an event nine total times with her best placement coming at the Warhawk Classic in April of 2023. With a time of 18:40.88, Sharp was the runner-up in the 5,000m. Much like in cross country, Sharp saved some of her best performances for her senior campaign. She set personal records as a senior during the 2026 indoor season in each of the mile (4:57.19), 3,000m (9:36.51), and 5,000m (16:38.09). During the outdoor season, she ran her best-ever 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:26.07 to finish third at the LSU Invitational.
Â
In Tulane’s record book, Sharp holds three different top-10 marks in program history. She is fourth all-time at Tulane with her indoor 5,000m time, and her indoor 3,000m mark is eighth. Outdoors, she is seventh with a 5,000m time of 16:56.12.
Â
Sharp graduated from Tulane in May 2026 with a degree in English.
