Curtis Akey enters his 11th year with the Tulane baseball program in the 2024-25 school year. He was promoted to role of General Manager in the fall of 2024. He had spent the previous six years as the team's Director of Operations and served as the Associate Athletics Communications Director during 2013-16 seasons.

Akey directs the baseball program’s day-to-day operations while assisting the coaching staff with game and practice scheduling, camps, on-campus recruiting, facility upgrades and working closely with others within Tulane’s athletic department in addition to managing the program’s travel on road trips.

Akey previously worked at Tulane as the Associate Athletics Communication Director from Dec. 2012 to Sept. 2016, serving as the primary contact for Tulane’s baseball program. He was a part of the 2015 NCAA Regional squad, as well as the 2016 American Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship team. Before rejoining Tulane, Akey was the Communications Manager for the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Prior to his first stint at Tulane, Akey worked in the non-profit industry in New Orleans from 2008-12.

Before moving to New Orleans, Akey worked in the Sports Information Department at Louisiana State University for a year as a student worker. He assisted with the publicity of a variety of sports, including the 2007 BCS Championship football team and LSU’s 2008 College World Series squad. He was also the primary contact for LSU’s first Super Six gymnastics team.

Akey graduated from LSU in May 2007 from the Manship School of Mass Communications. He also holds a minor in business.

The Mandeville, Louisiana, native is married to the former Jackie Deak of Tinley Park, Ill.
