NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Waitari Marsh had 12 points and 12 rebounds to help Tulane win in a rout of Prairie View A&M 88-59 Sunday.
The Green Wave (2-1) shot 55 percent from the field and got strong efforts from Wade Mason who had 17 points and Sterling Davis who finished with 18.
Tulane's outrebounded the Panthers 41-35 and led 40-25 at halftime.
The Green Wave bench scored 32 points and got a healthy workout in early season play. Ledaryl Billingsley had nine rebounds and scored nine points in a reserve role. And Brandon Spann scored 10 points as well.
Xavier Lee led the Panthers (0-1) with 20 points and five rebounds on 7 of 16 shooting. But Prairie View shot just 35 percent from the field and were 4 of 22 from three point range.
The Panthers totaled just five assists in the game, but shot 71 percent from the foul line on 15 of 21 shooting.
Tulane shot above 50 percent the entire game and won despite committing 19 turnovers. The Panthers committed 26 turnovers but did not have the depth in bench scoring. Panther reserves scored only five points in relief of starters.
