SHALIMAR, Fla. -- Bolstered by three players in the top 10, the Tulane women's golf team claimed the second round lead Saturday at the 2000 Conference USA Women's Golf Championships at Shalimar Pointe Golf and Country Club.
The Green Wave tallied a team score of 307 in the second round and leads the 54-hole tournament with a two-round total of 609 (+33). Tulane has a one-shot lead over South Florida, who posted the day's lowest round of 301, and Louisville at 610.
Individually, Louisville's Katherine Mowat continues to lead the field with a two-round total of 145. Mowat carded a 75 Saturday and leads the field by two strokes heading into Sunday's final round. South Florida's Angie Connell, who tallied the low round of the day with an even-par 72, is in second place at 147. Tulane's Pam Buff (150) and Megan Bolger (151)stand third and fourth respectively, while South Florida's Kelly Lagedrost rounds out the top five at 152.
Tulane, the only school in the seven-team field to have all of its golfers in the tournament's top 15 places, seeks its first Conference USA women's golf championship. The Green Wave also carried the lead into the final round of last year's championship before finishing as the runner-up to South Florida.

Heading into Sunday's final round, 13 players are within 10 strokes of the individual leader. It is also the tightest team score, with three teams within one stroke of the lead, after two rounds of play.
The 54-hole tournament continues through Sunday at Shalimar Pointe Golf and Country Club, a par 72, 5,898-yard layout.
