
Green Wave Finishes Runner-Up in The Judson

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Tulane women's golf closed out its fall campaign with a stellar performance to finish as the runner-up after falling in a playoff to the host program Southern Miss at The Judson hosted on Tuesday. The Green Wave posted a three-round score of 851 (-13) with four players finishing in the top 10.

As a team the Wave led the tournament with 64 total birdies and shot 12-under par on the par five holes averaging 4.80 strokes.

Francesca Pompa highlighted the tournament for the Wave as she tied for first place overall in the field of 65 players. She finished with a 54-hole score of 211 (-5 – 67, 75, 69) which tied Taylor Trible of Southern Miss for the top spot on the leaderboard. Pompa also tied for the tournament lead and the team lead with 15 total birdies across three rounds of competition.

Following right behind her teammate was freshman Sophia Macias who tied for third overall with a tournament score of 212 (-4 – 68, 71, 73). She led the tournament on par fives shooting an average of 4.33 strokes on those holes and finished second for Tulane on par threes averaging 2.92 strokes. Macias ended the final fall tournament with 14 birdies overall which ranked third in the field.

The next top 10 performer for the Green Wave was Sophia Chen with a three-round score of 213 (-3 – 74, 69, 70) which placed her tied for fifth in the tournament. Chen tied her teammate Pompa for the tournament lead with 15 total birdies. She also paced the field on par threes averaging 2.67 strokes on those holes and led the Wave on par fours averaging 3.87 strokes.

Gabriella Gilrowski rounded out the Wave in the top 10 of the tournament as she tied for ninth overall with a 54-hole score of 215 (-1 – 71, 70, 74). Gilrowski finished tied for fourth in the field with 13 total birdies while ranking fourth on the par fours (3.90) and fifth on the par fives (4.58).

Rounding out the starters for Tulane was Cristian Albertazzi who ended tied for 26th with a final score 227 (+11 – 74, 76, 77). She was followed by freshman Luz Schubert playing as an individual in her first career tournament for the Green Wave who finished tied for 50th with a three-round total of 238 (+22 – 81, 74, 83).

Tulane will open its spring season at the Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida, in February. The tournament will be hosted by Florida Atlantic at the Osprey Point Golf Club from February 2-4.
