
Tulane Leads The Judson Through Two Rounds

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Tulane women's golf got out to an outstanding start at The Judson posting back-to-back rounds under par as a team to lead the tournament with a 36-hole score of 565 (-11) on Monday. Four of the Green Wave's five starters ended the day under par led by freshman Sophia Macias with a two-round score of 139 (-5).

Macias closed the opening day of The Judson in second place overall after posting rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1). Through two rounds of action the freshman landed tied for the most birdies with 11 so far. She is also tied for the best average score in the tournament on par threes averaging 2.75 strokes on those holes.

Next up on the leaderboard for the Wave after two rounds of play was Gabriella Gilrowski who ended Monday tied for fourth overall. She began the tournament with a 71 (-1) in the first round followed by a 70 (-2) in round two to post a 36-hole score of 141 (-3). Gilrowski led the Wave on par fours averaging 3.85 strokes on those holes while tallying nine birdies on the opening day of action.

Francesca Pompa had the best round of the day for the Green Wave as she started the tournament by shooting a 67 (-5) in the first round. She followed that with a 75 (+3) to end with a two-round score of 142 (-2) to sit in a tie for seventh overall. Pompa matched a pair of her teammates with nine birdies on Monday which ranks tied for third in the tournament.

Up next for Tulane at the end of the opening day was Sophia Chen who recorded a 36-hole score of 143 (-1) to land 10th overall. She bounced back after shooting a 74 (+2) in the first round by posting a 69 (-3) in the second round. Chen also finished the day with nine total birdies on Monday.

Rounding out the starters for the Wave was Cristina Albertazzi who closed the day tied for 25th with a total score of 150 (+6 – 74, 76). Albertazzi managed to collect five birdies through two rounds which is tied for 22nd in the tournament.

Playing as an individual for the Green Wave freshman Luz Schubert ended Monday with a two-round score of 155 (+11 – 81, 74) to sit tied for 41st overall. In her first action of the season Schubert tallied four birdies across the first two rounds of the tournament.

UP NEXT
Tulane will wrap up the fall with the third and final round of The Judson on Tuesday. The Green Wave is set to tee off in a shotgun start at 8 a.m. alongside players from Southern Miss and Central Arkansas.
