UAB Head Coach Murry Bartow
"We shot it well and that was really the difference. I thought the last 15, 16 minutes of the second half we played pretty well. We defended well, rebounded well. We went to more of a two-three zone. We went to our bigger lineup, with three bigs across the back line of the zone and it was very effective for us. We were keying on (Brandon) Spann in the first half and he hit some big, big three's. They're a good rebounding team. If you look at their rebounding numbers over the first 12 games games they've been a good rebounding team. To beat them 48-26 on the glass obviously says something. Will Campbell went to the glass, David Walker has a double-double, P.J. Arnold stepping up in a big way, Eric Batchelor stepping up. LeAndrew (Bass) with 13 assists, just three turnovers, eight points, four rebounds. He's the guy that really makes us go and he's got to play well for us to win. We're still a long, long way, but we're making some improvement. It was a good win for us."
Tulane Head Coach: Shawn Finney
Comments on the Game:
"I have to give UAB credit. They really dominated the glass. That was the difference in the game. We couldn't keep them off the glass and in the second half, we couldn't score."
"We have to get Ledaryl [Billingsley] to come out and play from the start. If he makes some shots early on, it is a different game in the paint."
"They wore us down physically. They beat us up inside. They went to their zone and it frustrated us, making us take bad shots."
"Any time we have a starter in foul trouble [Wayne Tinsley], it is a problem for us because of our depth. We only have seven scholarship players and it is tough for us to get significant minutes from our bench."
