Indiana State Earns The Win 68-55 Over Southeast Missouri

NEW ORLEANS - David Moss scored 15 of his game-high 26 points in the second half to lead Indiana State to a 68-55 win over Southeast Missouri State Friday at the University Hoops Classic in Fogelman Arena.
Moss led a group of four ISU players in double figures as the Sycamores improved to 2-1 on the season, and are 1-0 after their first tournament game. Southeast Missouri State is now 1-1 in the tournament and 2-2 overall.
Southeast Missouri jumped out to an early 12-7 lead before Indiana State went on a 9-0 run to claim a 16-12 lead that they extended to 17-26 after layups by Brian Giesen, who scored 11 points in the game, and Moss.
The Indians came back to take a 29-28 lead with 2:30 remaining in the half on a jumper by Brandon Griffin. Griffin scored 17 points and added 11 rebounds while shooting 8-of-12 from the field. Tim Scheer led SEMo with 18 points.
Indiana State led 35-29 at halftime and started the second half on a 10-2 spurt to extend the lead to 45-31 with 16:42 left in the game. Southeast Missouri would not get closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
In addition to Moss, Giesen, with 11 points, Marcus Howard with 10 and Jerod Adler with 10, scored in double figures for the Sycamores. Indiana State shot 11-21 from the floor in the second half and were good on 15-of-22 free throws in the game while the Indians were six-of-six on free throws.
Southeast Missouri takes the day off Saturday while Indiana State takes on Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 3 p.m. in the day's first game.
