
Women's Basketball Receiving Votes In Preseason AP Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La. - - The Tulane women's basketball team is listed 28th in the Associated Press Women's Preseason Top Twenty Five poll, released by the organization on Monday.
It marks the fourth preseason mention for Tulane, as the Green Wave were also listed 12th by Athlon Sports, 15th by Street & Smith's and 38th by Womenscollegehoops.com.
The Green Wave are one of five Conference USA teams to earn a mention in the preseason poll. Defending C-USA Tournament champion Cincinnati is listed 18th, while defending regular-season champ TCU is 26th. League foes Houston and DePaul are also receiving votes.
Tulane could meet another three teams that are ranked in the preseason listing. Purdue, who the Wave will face on Jan. 2, is ranked eighth, while Louisiana Tech, who Tulane will host Dec. 7 in the New Orleans Arena, is ranked 16th. In addition, the Wave could match up against Boston College on Dec. 29 as part of the DoubleTree Classic. The Eagles are ranked 20th in the poll.
The Green Wave begin the 2002-03 season with an exhibition game against the Houston Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 10 before facing cross-town rival Xavier of Louisiana in a second exhibition on Sunday, Nov. 17. The Wave open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 22 on the road against James Madison.
