The Tulane women's basketball team returns to action after a 10-day break for semester exams, as the Green Wave play host to in-state rival Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Fogelman Arena.
Tulane enters Thursday's game with a 4-2 overall record after posting a 74-61 win over Sweet 16 participant Drake on Monday, Dec. 9. Senior Gwen Slaughter led the Green Wave in that game, scoring a career-high 20 points to go along with 16 rebounds, five blocks and four steals. She was named Conference USA Player of the Week for her efforts. Senior Teana McKiver and junior transfer Muci Haris currently lead the Wave in scoring, chipping in 14.5 and 10.7 points, respectively. Slaughter leads the team with a 9.8 rebounds per game average.
Southeastern Louisiana enters Thursday's game with a 1-5 record. The Lions opened the season with a win against Loyola before dropping five straight. However, the Lions have faced a tough schedule, with losses coming LSU, Baylor and Texas - all teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last year.
Tulane owns a 9-6 edge in the all-time series between the two schools, though Thursday's game will be the first match-up between the teams since the 1988-89 season.
Following Thursday's game, the Green Wave returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 22, when the Green Wave travel to face Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark.
