Tulane-Louisiana Tech Game Notes
The Tulane women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, as the Green Wave welcome in-state rival Louisiana Tech to the New Orleans Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Saturday's game marks the second straight season that the Wave will meet a nationally-ranked opponent in the New Orleans Arena. Last season, the Wave played host to then-No. 10 ranked Purdue. The Arena is currently the home of the NBA's New Orleans Hornets.
"We're excited to play Louisiana Tech in the Arena on Saturday," Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton said. "Its a great match-up for our fans and a great match-up for women's basketball fans in the state of Louisiana. Last year we had a great crowd down there when we played Purdue and we expect another good crowd on Saturday."

Tulane enters Saturday's game with a 3-1 record after posting a 70-57 win over Alabama State at Fogelman Arena on Thursday. Senior All-American Teana McKiver leads the Green Wave with a 14.0 points per game average, but has scored 18 and 19 points in Tulane's last two outings. The Green Wave have relied on their defense to start the season, having held all four of their opponents under 60 points.
"I've been really pleased with our defense so far," Stockton said. "We are still working on getting some consistency in our offense, but our defense has been very solid. We have also had the opportunity to play a lot of players, which will only help our depth as the season progresses."
Louisiana Tech is 2-2 heading into Saturday's game, having dropped a 60-35 decision to No. 4 Tennessee on Wednesday. Three Lady Techsters are averaging in double figures, led by Cheryl Ford's 13.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Last season, Tech was 25-5 overall after winning the WAC regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 21st consecutive season. Louisiana Tech is currently ranked 13th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll and 15th in the most recent AP poll.
Following Saturday's game, the Wave's schedule doesn't get any easier, as the Wave play host to Drake at Fogelman Arena on Monday. Last season, Drake posted a 25-8 record and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
