NEW ORLEANS, La. - -
The Tulane women's basketball team will play its third game in five days on Monday, as the Green Wave play host to Drake at Fogelman Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The game is the third of four straight home contests for the Wave, but the team's last game before the squad takes a nine-day break for semester exams. The Green Wave started the homestand with contests against Alabama State and Louisiana Tech, and will close out the streak with a Dec. 19, game against Southeastern Louisiana.
Monday's game marks the second meeting between Tulane and Drake, as the two teams faced off in Des Moines, Iowa, last season with the Bulldogs using a late run to claim a 67-58 victory.
Tulane enters Monday's game with a 3-2 record after falling to No. 13 Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Teana McKiver had 21 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks for the Wave against Tech, and is averaging 19.3 points over the last three games.
Drake is 4-2 heading into Monday's game and has six players averaging at least 8.2 points per game. Last season, Drake posted a 25-8 record and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Monday's game could be a match-up of two strong defenses. Through five games, Tulane has given up more than 60 points to just one opponent, Louisiana Tech, while Drake has held five of their six opponents under 70 points, including two under 60 points.
Following Monday's game, Tulane will take a nine-day break for semester exams before returning to the court on Thursday, Dec. 19 against Southeastern Louisiana at Fogelman Arena. That game against Southeastern will be the Wave's first against the Lions since the 1988-89 season.
