Tulane Plays Final Regular Season Road Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Tulane University returns to action on Saturday afternoon, playing its final regular-season road game of the year against Charlotte at 2 p.m. at Halton Arena.

Tulane (13-11, 5-8 Conference USA) will need to contain the deadly offensive attack of Charlotte (16-9, 10-4 Conference USA). The 49ers lead the league with 8.2 three-pointers per game. Senior guard Jobey Thomas, the most prolific three-point shooter in C-USA history, has connected for 92 trifectas this season. He leads Charlotte with 18.9 points per game. Big man Cam Stephens has posted 11 double-doubles this year and averages 13.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
"Charlotte is a very good offensive team with great shooters," Tulane coach Shawn Finney said. "We really have to do a good job defending their three-point shooters. They execute very well offensively."
In addition to Thomas, Demon Brown and Curtis Nash have both connected for 50 three-pointers this season.
Tulane will counter with 6-8 Brandon Brown, who leads the Green Wave with 15.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He was named a first team all-district player by the NABC, Tulane's first first-team honoree since 1996.
In addition to Brown, junior guard Brandon Spann averages 13.6 points per game. He has tallied double figures in 10 of the last 11 games and has hit eight three-pointers in the last three games. Juniors Waitari Marsh and Nick Sinville also average in double figures with 12.0 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
Tulane closes its 2001-2002 regular season next week with a pair of home games. The Green Wave hosts TCU on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., followed by Saint Louis on Saturday, Mar. 2.
