CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Jobey Thomas scored 23 points in his last game at Halton Arena to lead Charlotte to a 96-54 win over Tulane on Saturday.
Cam Stephens added 21 points and 15 rebounds for the 49ers (17-9, 11-4 Conference USA), and Demon Brown had 15 points, all in the first half.
Brandon Brown scored 12 points and was the only player in double figures for Tulane (13-12, 5-9).
With a barrage of 3-pointers in the final seven minutes of the first half, Charlotte turned a 24-21 lead into a 48-26 advantage. Demon Brown hit five 3-pointers and Curtis Nash added one during that stretch, as the 49ers held Tulane to three field goals in the last 7:58.
Demon Brown finished the half with 15 points, and Stephens collected 12 rebounds before the break. Brandon Brown had six points for the Green Wave, who trailed 49-28 at halftime.
All told, Charlotte was 8-of-15 from 3-point range in the first half (53.3 percent) and 17-of-28 overall (60.7 percent). Tulane hit 11 of 34 shots in the opening period (32.4 percent).
With the victory, Charlotte clinched a first-round bye for the Conference USA tournament, which begins March 6 in Cincinnati.
