Tulane Head Coach Lisa Stockton
On Colorado State's Comeback:
"This is a great example that it is never over until it is over. That was a tremendous comeback by Colorado State. We are just glad to survive and advance. Sometimes when you get a big lead, it's hard not have a big let down. It was a shame how we finished it but I was very happy with most of that game. I think that we played very well and I couldn't be happier with the way that our players came together this tournament. This week, they weren't tight and we had one of our best practices of the season, and tonight they were excited, but there was no nervousness.
On The First Thirty Minutes:
"We were getting such great play, not only from our starters, but the players we were putting in. We went into the game knowing that Teana would have a lot of pressure on her, so we knew that our four player was really key. The tempo was to our advantage and I just saw so much confidence from our team. I think that we executed our defensive game plan very well in the first half and we really abandoned it in the last eight minutes. I'm not sure why, but we really went away from it."
On Colorado State's Defense:
"I just felt we didn't make good decisions against the press. We usually handle presses pretty well, I just felt like maybe we lost some focus. Their defense was very good but some of our passes were very poor decisions. For us, we kind of went away from what we had done all year, which is protecting the ball. "
First Impressions On Monday's Game:
"I like where our team is right now. We scout and develop a game plan but then we hand that over to the players, but I feel very confident about our team."
Tulane guard Sarah Goree
On Being A Team Leader:
"I just wanted to be the coach out there on the court and let the players know that we were going get through this and to just stick to our offense, be fundamental, and make it through their run. They were making their shots but I knew that we needed to just stick with the game plan and keep them from getting their threes."
Tulane center Teana McKiver
On Building A Large First Half Lead:
"Our defense was the key. We knew they were great three-point shooters, so our defense was really important."
On Colorado State's Defense Against Her:
"Every time I touched the ball or it looked like they were going to pass the ball to me, they had two people on me."
Colorado Head Coach Tom Collen
Opening Statement:
"I am not sure what to say about the game. We are very disappointed that we are walking out of here with a loss. I give credit to Tulane, I thought they were extremely well prepared for us. Some of how we played in the first 30 minutes was due to their preparation, intensity level and hunger. We did not shoot the ball very well the entire game, especially in the first 30 minutes. I don't think I have ever had a team play harder than this team played the final six minutes of the game. I am not sure how far we were down at one time, but I am proud of the fact that we never quit and battled right to the end. We are going to hold our heads up and we are proud of who we are and what we have done. Give Tulane credit and we wish them well in the next round."
