Baseball Opens Fall Practice Tuesday

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane University baseball team begins its preparations for the 2004 season on Tuesday when the Green Wave begin fall practice at 2:15 p.m. at Turchin Stadium.
Tulane, which returns eight position players and 10 pitchers from last year's 44-19 Regional team, will play 15 intrasquad games, including four games each in weeks three and four of fall drills. Among the Green Wave's returners are 2003 Freshman All-Americans Brian Bogusevic and J.R. Crowel, as well as All-Louisiana honorees Brian Bormaster, Cory Hahn and Tommy Manzella.
Joining the ranks for the 2004 season is a talented recruiting class that features a trio of Division I-A transfers - Matt Barket (OF/Univ. of Miami), Greg Dini (C/Univ. of Miami) and Jason Pyle (C/Univ. of Arkansas), a junior college transfer in Joe Holland (INF/Blinn College) and a pair of High School All-Americans - Mark Hamilton (INF/Bellaire, Texas/Episcopal HS) and Philip Stringer (INF/Spring, Texas/Klein Oak HS).
Also joining the team for the upcoming season are local products Grayden Griener (OF/New Orleans, La./DeLaSalle HS), Daniel Latham (RHP/Covington, La./Covington HS) and Rustin Rebowe (INF/Norco, La./Destrahan HS) as well as out-of-state talent Will Rice (OF/Houston, Texas/Lamar HS) and Chris Worster (RHP/Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./W.T. Dwyer HS).
At the conclusion of fall drills on Nov. 2, the Green Wave will enjoy a few months off before returning to practice in January. Tulane opens its 2004 schedule on Saturday, Feb. 7 with the Fourth Annual Alumni Game at Turchin Stadium.
