NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane men's basketball senior Ivan Pjevcevic will have surgery on his right knee to repair a chronic dislocating patella. He will miss the remainder of the season.
Pjevcevic, slated to be Tulane's starting power forward this year, played eight minutes in the Green Wave's opening game against Southern before injuring the knee in a non-contact play in the backcourt. He had attempted one shot at that point, hitting a three-pointer, to go with one rebound and one assist.
As a junior, the Belgrade, Serbia native played in 29 games, including starting 10 contests. He averaged 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds while playing 16.6 minutes per game. His career three-point percentage of .439 is the highest in Tulane school history for players with 100 or more attempts.
Tulane has posted a 4-1 record to open the 2003-04 season. The Green Wave hosts Northwestern State tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. before taking a 10-day break for final exams. Tickets are available by calling 504-861-WAVE.
