Tulane Women In Action at C-USA Indoor Championships

HOUSTON, Texas - Tulane University holds fourth place with 27 points after day one of the 2003 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Houston's Yeoman Field House on Friday.
Houston leads the event with 43.5 points, just a half-point ahead of South Florida. Marquette is in third place with 35 points.
The top result for the Green Wave was a second place finish in the distance medley relay as Carlyne Pradieu, Aisha Otori, Sheena Garwood and Birka Wicke posted a season-best time of 12:00.54 in the event.
A pair of freshman also had strong efforts for Tulane as Marilyn Sauls and Lindsey Karlick both earned six points with third-place finishes. Sauls notched a career-best effort in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, one and a quarter inches for her third-place effort, while Karlick, already Tulane's record-holder in the pole vault, vaulted 11 feet, seven and a quarter inches.
Sophomore Camilla Hatlen also had a strong day at the championships, tallying seven points with a sixth place finish in the long jump (17-08.25) and fifth in the indoor pentathlon (3,320 points).
The action closes at the championship on Saturday with the awards presentation scheduled for 5 p.m.
