NEW ORLEANS, La. - Cox Sports TV will broadcast the Tulane-Houston men's basketball game in the New Orleans area at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening live from the University of Houston's Hofheinz Pavilion.
The game will also be broadcast live on the Tulane-ISP Radio Network: WTIX 690 AM and WTIX 94.3 FM in the New Orleans area.
Tulane (9-10, 2-4 C-USA) has won two straight games in league play, defeating UAB and East Carolina. Houston (6-11, 4-2), meanwhile, has won three straight games to climb into a tie for first place in the National Division of Conference USA.
"Houston is playing very well right now," Tulane coach Shawn Finney said. "They are a hot team, playing good team basketball. We need to match their effort and intensity on Tuesday.
"They also have one of the best players in the league in Louis Truscott," Finney continued. "He is a powerful player who will present a major challenge to our big guys on both ends of the floor."
Truscott is the only player in Conference USA averaging a double-double, with 16.6 points and a league-best 12.8 rebounds per game. In addition to Truscott, guard Andre Owens, a transfer from Indiana, is averaging 14.9 points per game, including 47 three-pointers.
Tulane is being led by a trio of seniors in Brandon Brown, Waitari Marsh and Brandon Spann.
Marsh leads the team with 15.0 points per game, including scoring an 18.3 point-per-game clip in conference play. Brown tallies 14.3 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game, while Spann is coming off a season-high 20-point game against East Carolina. He is averaging 12.2 points per outing while leading the team with 32 three-pointers (and shooting at a 41.6 percent clip).
In addition, junior swingman Wayne Tinsley has been a force in league play, averaging 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 59.6 percent from the field.
"Wayne battled that knee injury early in the year," Finney said. "But now he is feeling stronger and more confident. He might be our best defensive player and now he is doing all of the little things that help a team win games."
Following the Houston game, the Wave travels to Birmingham for a rematch with UAB, the team which is tied with Houston for the division lead. Tulane is back home on Thursday, Feb. 13, hosting Memphis in an ESPN2 game.
