Tulane Track in Eighth Place With One Day To Go

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jelena Jurlina took first place in one event and second in another on Saturday at the Belk Track to lead Tulane University to eighth place with one day remaining at the Conference USA Outdoor Track Championships.
Jurlina won the javelin throw with a career-best effort of 160 feet, four inches and took second place in the discus with a school record throw of 163 feet even. Her two efforts garnered 18 points for the Green Wave.
Tulane is in eighth place with 21 points. South Florida leads the event with 66 points, while Louisville (43 points) and South Florida (41.50) are holding second and third place, respectively.
Other scorers for the Green Wave were freshman Marilyn Sauls and sophomore Camilla Hatlen in the long jump. Sauls took seventh place with a career-best jump of 18 feet, three and a quarter inches, while Hatlen was eighth with a jump of 18 feet, one and three-quarters inches. The third and final day of the Conference USA Championship gets underway at 10:00 Saturday with the men's high jump and discus. Running events crank up at 1:00 with the women's 4x100-meter relay. The final event is the men's 4x400 relay. It begins at 3:55 p.m.
