Coming off a 73-68 win on Sunday afternoon against Nicholls State, the Tulane women's basketball team will host Portland on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 6p.m. in Fogelman Arena as part of double-header with the men's team.
Led by Lakethia Hampton's near double-double performance of 18 points and 9 rebounds, the Green Wave improved its record to 5-4 on the young season on Sunday. In that game, redshirt freshman Courtney Simmons tallied a career high 14 points and junior guard D'Aundra Henry set a career-high with three blocked shots.
Portland makes its first appearance in Fogelman, bringing in a mark of 4-6. On Saturday, the Pilots edged Univeristy of California-Davis, 66-63, behind 23 points from senior center Ashlee Orndorff. The Pilots have three starters averaging double-figure scoring totals.
Tuesday's matchup with Portland marks just the second meeting between the two schools on the hardwood. The Green Wave won the only previous meeting, 86-56, on Dec. 1, 2002, in Portland.
Basketball fans can catch all the action live on the radio on the flagship station of Green Wave women's basketball, WRBH, 88.3 FM. Tim Grubbs will be calling the action, and the pregame show begins approximately 15 minutes before tipoff.
