
Tulane Men's Tennis Upended By Mississippi State

NEW ORLEANS, La. - In a hard-fought battle at McCarthy Gymnasium, 26th-ranked Tulane University was upended 4-3 by Mississippi State University in men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon. The match was moved indoors due to weather.
Despite the loss, Tulane (4-2) had a big highlight as No. 1 singles player Michael Kogan defeated Romain Ambert, the fourth-ranked player in the nation. Kogan, who is ranked No. 8, won 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
The Green Wave dropped the doubles point, but then jumped to a 3-1 lead by winning the first three singles matches. In addition to Kogan's win. Junior Dmitriy Koch won at No. 2 and freshman David Goulet had a victory at No. 4. Koch, who is ranked No. 37 in the nation, improves to 4-0 with his win.
Mississippi State (2-2) battled back from the deficit however, winning at No. 2 and No. 6 before clinching the victory with a three-set victory at No. 6.
Tulane returns to action next Sunday, playing at UL-Lafayette at 2 p.m.
