LUBBOCK, Texas - The Tulane University women's basketball team has completed its 2006-07 recruiting class with the signing of 6-2 forward Brittany Lindsey of Lithonia, Ga., to a National Letter of Intent head coach Lisa Stockton announced Friday. Lindsey is the third signee for Stockton and her staff during the early signing period.
Lindsey, a senior at Woodward Academy in the Atlanta suburb of College Park, Ga., is ranked as the No. 54 forward by All Star Girl's Report. A starter in each game of her career, Lindsey was voted Woodward's MVP after leading the team with 14 points and seven rebounds per game in 2004-05. She was an all-region selection during 2004-05 and is the eighth player in school history to score 1,000 career points.
Her AAU team, the Georgia Metros, won the 16-under AAU National Championship in 2004-05.
"Brittany is a four player that is very versatile," Stockton said. "She is strong facing the basket, and is also good outside shooter; she's very athletic and runs the floor well. Her AAU team, the Georgia Metros, is one of the best teams I have seen."
Lindsey joins guards Chassity Brown of Shreveport, La., and Tia Jackson of Houston, Texas, as Stockton's 2006-07 recruiting class.
"Everyone in this class is a very good student, and Tulane's academics were really attractive to them," Stockton said. "All of them have great character, and for them to stick with us through all that has happened says a lot about them."
The Green Wave open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 18 against Howard. Tulane will serve as the "home" team against Howard in a game played at Lubbock Christian University while Tulane's true home opener is slated for Dec. 18 against Central Connecticut State in Fogelman Arena.
