Swimming & Diving Enjoys Solid Day One At Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The Tulane University swimming & diving team posted 15 season-best times at one of the most prestigious events in the nation as the Green Wave opened participation in the Texas Invitational Thursday at the Jamail Texas Swim Center on the campus of the University of Texas.
Swimming alongside several nationally-ranked programs, the Green Wave got solid individual performances in the 100-yard butterfly, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle while the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay teams posted impressive times.
Junior Taylor Emerson led the Green Wave with a 1:00.78 in the 100 fly, and sophomore Tiffany Brown posted a 5:04.90 in the 500 free. Freshman Victoria Givens paced Tulane with a 2:08.48 in the 200 IM - the 5th best time in Tulane history - while junior Katherine McCoy clocked out at 24.35 in the 50 free.
In the relay events, the quartet of Sara Dicharry, Brown, McCoy and Linda McEachrane had a season-best 1:37.20 in the 200 free relay while the combination of Brown, McEachrane, Emerson and Dicharry posted a season-best time of their own in the 400 medley relay with a 3:55.44.
McEachrane's 23.78 in the final leg of the 200 free relay was the fastest anchor this season for the Green Wave, and Brown's 58.85 backstroke in the leadoff leg of the 400 medley relay was the best 100 back of anyone on the team this year.
The Green Wave return to the Jamail Texas Swim Center on Friday for the second day of competition at the Texas Invitational with preliminaries slated at 10 a.m. and the finals set to kick off at 6 p.m.
