NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane University men's tennis team returned to New Orleans after a challenging road trip and the experience gained in the Pacific Northwest proved valuable as the Green Wave registered a 5-2 victory over crosstown rival UNO on Friday afternoon at the Goldring Tennis Courts.
Last weekend, the Green Wave upset 11th-ranked Ohio State but dropped a pair of 4-3 decisions to nationally-ranked Minnesota and Washington.
After winning the doubles point, Tulane dropped matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, but Jacobo Hernandez and Alberto Sottocorno each won their singles matches to give the Green Wave a 3-2 advantage. Hernandez and Sottocorno are both undefeated this season (8-0) in singles.
Sophomore David Goulet clinched the victory for the Green Wave with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over UNO's Patricio Rodriguez.
Senior Dmitriy Koch, who is ranked No. 59 in the nation, wrapped up the afternoon with a victory at No. 1 singles.
