New Orleans - The Tulane volleyball team returns home to face UAB and Memphis in C-USA action this weekend. The Green Wave and UAB Blazers battle Friday at 7 p.m. as Tulane will go for its eighth home win in nine tries. On Sunday, Tulane and Memphis will jockey for position in the race for a first-round conference tournament bye at 1 p.m. With six conference matches remaining, Tulane sits tied for third in C-USA with the Tigers. The top four teams receive a bye in the first round of the C-USA Tournament, which will be held November 16-19 at Houston.
Regional Dialect
In the latest RichKern.com / AVCA Division I regional computer index, Tulane is ranked third in the Midwest Region, behind Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Memphis. The Index takes into consideration the Rich Kern Percentage Index (RKPI) of all Division I teams, then computes each region based on overall ranking. The RKPI mimics the NCAA RPI.
Natural Born Killer
With 5.27 kills per game, sophomore Sara Radosevic ranks ninth in Division I kills. The outside hitter from Zagreb, Croatia, now has 316 kills in 60 games. Radosevic is second in C-USA, as conference mate Kelly-Anne Billingy of Marshall leads the nation. She is also 10th in the NCAA and first in C-USA with 0.65 service aces per game.
In The Middle of the Offense
Tulane's middle blockers have been efficient offensive players, hitting a combined .400 on the season (219 of 420). Sophomore Lauren Boatwright (85 kills) is connecting at a .357 clip. Sophomore Jen Linder (134 kills) is hitting .409, which ranked 18th in Division I in hitting percentage before she dipped below the NCAA minimum qualification of 4.0 attempts per game. She has 3.984 attempts per game and 247 for the season. Four attempts in 62 games would be 248 attempts. Had she one more attempt without a kill or error, she'd currently be in 16th in hitting (at .407). Linder does qualify in Conference USA and ranks second in hitting percentage.
Conference Notes
Entering the weekend, the Green Wave rank second in C-USA in assists (14.75) and fourth in kills (15.68). Freshman libero Jenn Miller leads C-USA in digs with 5.25 per game. Jen Linder is second in C-USA in hitting percentage (.409) with 134kills on 247 attempts. Sara Radosevic is second in C-USA with 5.27 kills per game, while freshman outside hitter Ksenija Vlaskovic ranks ninth with 3.85 KPG. Radosevic also leads C-USA in aces per game (0.65). Middle blocker Lauren Boatwright has 76 blocks in 68 games to place fifth in C-USA at 1.12 BPG.
All-Time Leaderboards
Freshman libero Jenn Miller now has 357 digs on the season. With seven more digs, Miller can enter the top 10 single-season dig list at Tulane and set a Green Wave freshman record. Sophomore setter Luna Rebrovic now has 1,385 career assists, eighth all-time at Tulane in under two seasons. She currently sits 89 assists behind Shelly Wolfe (1996-97) for seventh place.
Young, But Experienced
With three freshman, seven sophomores and only one senior (Sara Thorson), Tulane is one of just six teams with one upperclassman or less, along with Alabama St. (one junior), Birmingham-Southern (one senior), Indiana St. (no juniors or seniors), Savannah St. (one junior), and Southern (one senior). Tulane is the only program of that group with a winning record this season, as the other five are a combined 17-76 on the season.
Sunday Night Spike
Tulane volleyball won its first-ever national television appearance, a 3-2 win over Marshall Thundering Herd on Sept. 24. Sara Radosevic led a quartet of Wave players who finished in double-figures in kills. While winning the early match up of Conference USA unbeatens, the Green Wave also snapped the 14-match C-USA win streak of the defending league champions and handed Marshall just its fifth loss in its last 40 home matches.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, the Green Wave plays host to Memphis at 1 p.m. The Tigers are 7-3 in C-USA entering this weekend, and 21-4 overall. Next weekend, Tulane visits Southern Mississippi (Fri., 7 p.m.) and Central Florida (Sun., 12 p.m.) in C-USA actiona.
