
Wave Rolls to Fifth-Straight, 85-47, Over UCF

NEW ORLEANS - Senior guard Jami Montagnino led a trio of Tulane women's basketball players in double-figures as the Green Wave won its fifth in a row, 85-47, over the University of Central Florida Sunday at Fogelman Arena. Montagnino finished with 21, while senior guard D'Aundra Henry added 14 and junior forward Alendra Brown chipped in 11.
Sophomore guard Ashley Langford dished out eight assists, and is averaging 10.3 assists in her last three games. She also picked up her third career block in the first half.
The Green Wave remain in a tie atop Conference USA at 6-2 while moving to 17-4 overall. UCF falls to 6-15 overall, 1-7 in C-USA.
Tulane held UCF to 27.5 shooting for the game (19-of-69), and no three-pointers allowed. The Green Wave also forced 19 turnovers and scored 26 points off UCF miscues.

The Wave opened up to a 15-9 lead as Montagnino found Dominique Philpots for a jumper. A three-pointer by Nikki Luckhurst stretched the margin to 32-19 with 6:50 to go in the first.
Tulane took a 47-25 lead into halftime as Montagnino led all scorers at the break with 15, while Philpots paced all players on the glass with six rebounds at the half.
The Wave used an 8-2 run out of halftime to stretch the lead to 55-27 and the lead continued to grow until the buzzer.
Kristin Thomas led the Golden Knights with nine points and eight rebounds. UCF's Celeste Hudson scored her 1,000th career point in the first half.
The Green Wave improve to 11-2 at Fogelman Arena this season with three home games remaining.
Tulane embarks on a three-game road swing on Thursday, at Houston for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Hoffheinz Pavilion. Tulane will stay in the city of Houston for a Saturday, 5 p.m. contest against Rice.
