
Tulane Looks to Rebound in Rhode Island Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's basketball team travels to Kingston, R.I., for a non-conference meeting with Rhode Island Wednesday night. The Green Wave (6-2) meet the Rams (4-4) of the Atlantic 10 at 6 p.m. CT at the Thomas Ryan Center.
The Green Wave are coming off a 52-36 loss to No. 7 LSU. The Tigers led the NCAA in scoring defense last season, and rank third in 2007-08.
It marked just the eighth time in school history Tulane failed to reach 40 points, and just the second time since the inaugural women's basketball season the Wave scored 36 or less.
Tulane's defense held its own against the Tigers, holding LSU to 52 points (or less) for only the 14th time in the Tigers last 593 games.
The Green Wave's two losses are to teams in the top 30 of the polls. LSU ranks seventh in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll and No. 8 in the AP, while Georgia Tech is receiving votes at 28th in the Coaches and 29th in the AP (as of the Nov. 27-Dec. 3 poll; new polls released Dec. 4.)
Rhode Island is coming off a 64-55 loss to rival Providence on Saturday. The Rams have wins over Sacred Heart, Siena, Brown and Central Connecticut State, with losses to Boston U., Holy Cross and then-No. 16 West Virginia.
Last season, Tulane defeated Rhode Island 76-70 at Fogelman Arena as Jami Montagnino scored 30 points, while Alendra Brown added 13 points and six rebounds.
