Asumnu Wins 100m as Tulane Track Competes at Disney Invitational

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Gloria Asumnu took first in the 100-meter dash to lead the Tulane Track & Field program at the Walt Disney World Invitational in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Friday. Nine Tulane student-athletes earned top 15 finishes at the 19-team event.
Asumnu led the field of 39 runners in 100-meter dash with a time of 11.32, crossing the line 0.33 ahead of the runner up. Jasmine Momoh placed eighth with a 12.03 time, with Olivia Kizzee (12th, 12.24) and Taneekwa Ross (14th, 12.26) close behind.
Aubrey Phillips won the 10,000-meter event, setting a Tulane school record with a personal best of 36:38.32.
In the 200-meter dash, Asumnu also paced the field, winning the event in 22.96. Momoh placed seventh at 24.13, with Lobbins turning in a 17th place finish at 24.76.
Momoh was Tulane's top finisher in the 400-meter dash, placing seventh with a time of 55.76. Kyra Lobbins (56.86) finished 11th, with Shanon Beelendorf (57.08) and Kizzee (57.11) placing 12th and 13th.
Another top 10 finisher for the Wave was Whitney Hampton, who turned in a personal best 4:45.84 time in the 1,500-meter run, good for eighth. Lauren Svenson added a 5:58.64 time for 39th.
Three Wave student-athletes turned in personal bests in the 5,000-meter with Keriann Langley posting her PR personal best of 18:28, placing fourth. Cecelia Clarke finished eighth with a personal best of 18:58, and Jill Shriver added a personal best 19:46 for 12th place.
Christina Tegbe placed 20th in the long jump with a distance of 4.85 meters (15 feet, 11 inches), while Nicolette Taku was 10th in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 14.98.
