Tulane Downs McNeese State, 68-62

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Kris Richard and Kevin Sims each scored 17 points to lead Tulane to a 68-62 win over McNeese State in both teams season opener on Saturday.

Robinson Louisme added 11 points for the Green Wave. Richard also grabbed seven rebounds, had three steals and blocked two shots.

The Cowboys were paced by John Pichon, who scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. P.J. Alawoya contributed with 11 rebounds for McNeese State. McNeese State out rebounded Tulane 43-34.

The Green Wave shot 44.2 percent from the field (23-for-52) for the game.

The Cowboys shot 13 of 26 from the free-throw line.
