Orlando, Fla.
Saturday's game marked the fourth meeting between Tulane and UCF, and the second between the two teams in Orlando. The Knights now lead the series 3-1, including a mark of 2-0 in Orlando. Today's game was the first between the teams at the two-year old Brighthouse Networks Stadium. The only previous meeting in Orlando came in 2005 at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
Jeremy Williams' second catch in the first quarter from quarterback Ryan Griffin for eight yards pushed him past 1,000 receiving yards on the year, making Williams just the fifth Tulane receiver in school history to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in a single season. He is the first receiver to notch 1,000 yards in one season since Roydell Williams registered 1,066 yards in 2003.
Jeremy Williams has caught at least one pass in his last 24 games. The last time Williams failed to record a catch was against LSU on Sept. 29, 2007, in the Louisiana Superdome. During his current streak, Williams has hauled in at least three passes on 20 occasions.
Jeremy Williams finished the game with 67 all-purpose yards, including 47 receiving, 4 rushing yards and 16 yards on one kickoff return. Williams now as 1,622 all-purpose yards this season (1,039-rec/160-rush/423-kor), which is the fourth best effort in school history. His 3,568 all-purpose yards remains 10th all-time.
Jeremy Williams's 79 receptions this season ranks as the second best total in a single season, while his 1,039 receiving yards is the eighth-best effort in one season.
Ross Thevenot's 77-yard punt in the first quarter was the longest of his career (previous high was 71 yards vs. SMU on Sept. 25, 2008 in the Superdome) and the third longest in school history, tying him with Eddie Dunn (vs. Vanderbilt in 1958) and Lou Thomas (vs. Georgia in 1942).
Junior cornerback Phillip Davis picked off his second career interception, both coming this season, in the end zone during the second quarter and returned it 40 yards. The 40 yard interception return marked the longest of the season and the longest since David Skehan's 41-yard INT against Tulsa in 2008.
Freshman Shane Delery registered his first career sack when he stopped quarterback Brett Hodges in the second quarter.
Junior Andrew Nierman started his first game of the season at right guard. The start was his first at that position since the 2008 campaign.
Redshirt-sophomore fullback Antoine Duplessis returned to the line-up for the first time since the UTEP game. Duplessis did not play last week at Rice due to injury.
Freshman D.J. Banks notched the longest kickoff return of his young career with a 46-yard return in the third quarter. He then bested his effort with a 47-yard return in the fourth quarter for a new career high. Banks finished with three returns for 72 yards.
A quartet of Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks - junior OT Pete Hendrickson and senior DE Adam Kwentua with 21 straight each, junior WR Casey Robottom at 17 and senior WLB Travis Burks at 13.
Tulane captains for Saturday's ballgame were senior RB André Anderson, senior LB David Kirksey, senior LB Travis Burks and junior OT Pete Hendrickson.
