TULANE HEAD COACH Lisa Stockton
Overall thoughts on the game
"The thing that stands out in my mind is we're missing two of our top three scorers tonight. You ask your players to step up and two of them have career nights. I think that's all you can ask of your team. I thought they all responded and we did what we needed to do."
On the performance of Aidoo and Nunn in the frontcourt
"Danielle hasn't really played forward for us this year, especially on defense. I think it says a lot about our team executing the game plan. We weren't sure how it was going to work but we felt that we had to have pressure pretty much the whole game. We knew that we had to double and put a lot of pressure on the ball in the half court. We did that, created turnovers and made them take bad shots."
On what has been the key during Tulane's seven-game winning streak
"Two things: we have great chemistry and we play really hard. We know what each other can do. We find the shooters. I think they really love to play together and they play really hard. Even when we're up 20, we're still playing hard. That is the key to being able to hold on to victories."
TULANE JUNIOR FORWARD Danielle Nunn
Overall thoughts on the game
"As a team, everyone was clicking. Everyone was finding the right person, everyone was making the extra pass and I think that's how everyone was able to get on the board and score points."
On the difference in the game match-up wise
"Because we were playing all guards, they had a harder time guarding our guards. We were able to take advantage of them on the perimeter and use our guard skills against their post players."
On having to play a five-guard lineup
"We had to go in and change our game plan. Losing both of our post players, we've worked hard in practice as a team. Whether we're playing guard or in the post, we just try to give it our all and make up for what we're missing."
TULANE JUNIOR FORWARD Tiffany Aidoo
On the overall team play that it took to win on Monday
"Starting from day one, we've played like a team. We come out, we execute and we play hard for each other. I this may be the best we have played together up until right now. We're playing really well and it's a great feeling."
On being without Brett Benzio and Brittany Lindsey
"It affects us with our height, but we've been coming out and working on our defense. Our defense has been getting better. We have pressure in the backcourt and that's really helping our offense right now. We're getting steals and fast breaks."
LONG ISLAND HEAD COACH GAIL STRIEGLER
Overall thoughts on the game
"I think Tulane really came out and took it to us. We came out and were a little bit shell shocked by what they were doing. Our game plan was definitely not for them to be playing five guards. With two post players playing, we expected it to be a little slower and run off some screens. They came out, were extremely aggressive against us and we were on our heels the whole. Their players, the whole night, really dominated us. Some of our kids played hard there at the end. We just didn't do a good enough job of taking care of the ball and getting into a true offense."
On Tulane having 16 steals and forcing 25 turnovers
"They kept switching everything. And when we did break the press, they would come up behind us. We're not used to people being as quick as we are, to be honest with you. When they had five guards out there, they were really swarming around. They were playing a full-front post which is not something we've seen a lot of this year. When they were doing that, we had some bad entry passes and tried to force it in. We definitely had a size advantage. We just didn't take advantage of it."
